　　HONG KONG — Businesses, government offices, financial markets and schools were closed Wednesday in Hong Kong and Macau with the approach of a severe tropical storm, but Olympic officials said it was not affecting horses and riders here for the start of the equestrian events in Hong Kong on Saturday.
　　With torrents of rain and powerful gusts, the storm, named Kammuri, moved slowly past the southernmost waters of Hong Kong and Macau and headed for landfall about 50 miles southwest of Macau, which is 40 miles southwest of Hong Kong. There were no immediate reports of deaths or injuries from the storm, although the government-owned broadcaster Radio Television Hong Kong said scaffolding had been blown off buildings and trees uprooted.
　　The Hong Kong financial markets did not open Wednesday, preventing investors from trying to profit from Wall Street’s strong rally Tuesday. Other Asian markets were up sharply Wednesday, with the Nikkei 225 index rising 2.5 percent by midday in Tokyo and the Shanghai A share market up 1.9 percent.
