Wipe that smile off your face.
　　当你严肃地想跟别人谈话时，人家却对你嬉皮笑脸，不甚严肃 ，令你生气的时候 ，你可对他说:Wipe that smile off your face(把微笑从脸上抹去)，即是叫别人‘严肃一点’，或者说Get serious，也可说:This is no laughing matter(没什么可笑的事情)。Smile是微笑，大笑可以说laugh out loud，小孩子咯咯地笑叫giggle。

　　Gordon: Hi!
　　Rita: Don't you hi me. I have a bone to pick with you. You left the apartment in a real mess. You haven't paid your half of the rent, you haven't fixed the television and you still owe me five hundred dollars. Stop nodding and wipe that smile off your face, this isn't funny.
　　Gordon: (Takes out ear-plugs) Sorry, were you saying something? I was just smiling at the way your mouth kept moving and I couldn't hear a thing.
　　戈登：嗨!
　　莉达：别跟我说‘嗨’，我对你不满，你把房子弄得一团糟，你没有交一半房租，又不把电视机修好，还欠我五百块，别再点头，严肃一点吧，一点也不好笑。
　　戈登：(脱下耳机)对不起，你在说话吗?我只是跟着你的嘴吧动作微笑，我一点也听不到。
　　莉达恨戈登肮脏，见戈登跟她说Hi，就骂到:Don't you hi me, and wipe that smile off your face, I have a bone to pick with you。
　　Hi本来只是一声招呼，Don't you hi me.(别跟我说‘嗨’)的hi却是作动词。英文不可少这类招呼用语或称谓，在口语中都可以同样变作动词，例如你不想人家叫你做mister(先生)、my dear(亲爱的)等，可以说Don't mister me、Don't dear me等。"What are you doing, honey?" "How dare you honey me? I don't even know you."即‘爱人，你在做什么?’‘你怎么这么猖狂，叫我做爱人?我连你是谁都不知道。’
　　Wipe that smile off your face直译是‘把微笑从脸上抹去吧’。叫人认真一点，或觉得他脸上笑容讨厌，你就可以说这句话。这成语还可以用来说‘让人无法得意下去’，例如:The jury's verdict wiped the smile off the defendant's face.(听到陪审团的判决，被告脸上笑容消失了)。Smile一字，可用smirk是‘洋洋得意的傻笑’，grin则是‘咧嘴而笑’。
　　To have a bone to pick with somebody也是成语，pick即‘啃(骨头)’。两只狗之间只有一块骨头，难免就有纷争。所以，这成语是说‘对某人有不满的地方’，例如:I have bone to pick with you. Why did you stand me up yesterday?(我得和你算帐。昨天为什么爽约，放我鸽子?)
