　　I'm going to see a doctor.
　　生病的时候就需要看医生，英文可以说：I am going to see a doctor.(我要去看医生)，一般全科执业医生叫General Practice，专科医生叫Specialist，中国人喜欢看中医师，英文叫Traditional Chinese doctor，求诊可到诊所(Clinic)或医院门诊部(Outpatients department)。
　　对话 　　Roy: Where are you running off to in such a hurry?
　　Marty: I am going to see a doctor, it's urgent!
　　Roy: But you look fine to me. Actually you've never looked better.
　　Marty: Maybe on the outside but inside my head is another story. The doctor I'm going to see is a psychiatrist. I believe I can fly. Up, up and away!
　　罗伊：你赶着去哪儿？
　　马田：我急着要去看医生啊！
　　罗伊：但你看来很好，而且从来没有看你气色这么好过。
　　马田：或许只是外表看起来不错，但内在却是另一回事，我是要看精神科医生，我相信我可以飞翔，飞得远远地！
　　马田病了，说I am going to see a doctor.（我去看医生）。 ‘去看医生’，英文说to go to a doctor或to go to a doctor's都可以，例如：I'm going to the doctor/the doctor's for a medical examination.（我要去找医生做体检）。Doctor's是doctor's clinic（医生工作的诊所）的缩略。你也可以说：I'm going to the dentist/the dentist's.（我要去看牙医）。
　　假如有人病得不能自己去看医生，那么就要请医生或救护车前来。你可以说：Quick! Send for a doctor/an ambulance（快请医生来/叫救护车来）。Send for即‘召唤’或‘派人请来’。
　　Doctor是对医生最常用的称呼，但其它称呼也不可不识。Physician是比较旧式的叫法，成语Physician, heal yourself（医生，请先治好自己吧）有‘先正己，后正人’的意思。全科医生叫general practitioner，简称为GP，这些医生一般都是家庭医生，即family doctor。此外，专科医生叫specialist，外科医生叫surgeon，牙医则叫dentist。在英国，外科医生、牙医、兽医等，一般不会称为Dr，而会称为Mr、Mrs、Miss等；但是，在美国，则一律叫Dr。
　　俚语叫医生做pill-peddler/pill-pusher（贩卖药丸者）或vet（兽医），这当然有戏谑意味，例如：I've just seen my vet.（我刚刚看过医生）。庸医或江湖骗子叫quack或charlatan，例如：His confidence in a quack cost him his life.（他误信庸医，结果赔上性命）。
