Our mayor has his own weblog.

　　Bill：Our mayor has his own weblog.
　　Richard ：What's that, some kind of disease?
　　Bill：No, don't be silly. It's a kind of diary or record of his activities and ideas, which anyone can read.
　　Richard：Is it worth reading?
　　Bill：Well in parts. He's got some quite good ideas for reducing traffic congestion in the town, for example.
　　Richard：That doesn't strike me as anything earth-shaking.
　　比尔：我刚才使用计算机，你知道我发现了什么？
　　理查德：不知道，说出来教我惊奇一下吧。
　　比尔：市长有他自己的网志。

　　Weblog由web、log二字合成。Web自然是万维网，log则可解作日志，常用来说航海日志，例如：The captain is responsible for keeping the ship's log（船长负责撰写航海日志）。然则weblog是什么？近年有些人设立自己的网站(website)，每天、每星期等在网站上记录他们的见闻感想，或介绍一些他们认为值得阅读的文章、值得浏览的网站等，公开供人参考、评论。这类日志式网站就叫weblog（网志），简称为blog，而网主可称为blogger、weblog owner或weblog editor。If you want to publish your own weblog, you must first of all know how to create a website即‘假如你要发表自己的网志，首先须懂得创立网站’。Blog也可作动词，例如：Blogging every day, he endeavors to expose the government's corrupt practices（他每天编写网志，致力揭露政府贪墨的行径）。留意这一课对话里in parts的说法。英文有in part一词，指‘在某程度上’或‘有部份’，例如：(1) I was in part responsible for her failure（她失败了，我多少也难辞其咎）。(2) The hillock was in part overgrown with bushes（那小丘有部份长满了灌木）。假如灌木丛长于小丘上不同地方，那么，你可说in parts，而in part则是笼统说法。The city was in parts flooded after the thunderstorm即‘雷雨过后，城中多处地方给水淹了’。(
