The Music I Love,第1张

The Music I Love,第2张

Like many young students, I love music. But different from most of them, I am a fan of foreign pop music. Two years ago, my brother, who was studying in the university, brought me a tape called “1996 Grammy Nominees”。 This tape contained quite a few songs that won the Grammy Awards, the highest prizes of the American recording industry. It was the first time that I had known Mariah Carey, All-4-One, Alanis Morssette and so on. Their voices moved me deeply. From then on, I took a great interest in foreign pop music.

There are many differences between foreign and Chinese pop music, I think. For example, the majority of the singers in the west write songs themselves. So when they sing the songs, their feelings are true and natural. But in China, one song is written by one person , and sung by another [usually a song is written by one person, but sung by another] (1) .

The foreign singers like describing their daily life in their songs. Sometimes, a song is just a story. Sadness, happiness and lonely [loneliness] (2) can all be found there. The topics are not only about love, but also about other emotional themes.

Apart from the music, I like the words of the songs as well. “At night a candle's brighter than the sun.” Sting, a famous Irish singer, sang this line in “Englishman in New York.” It isthoughtful. And some words are interesting. “If you are a nut, then I must be a screw.” This is taken from Jon Bon Jovi's “Ugly”。

Well, if you are such a fan, if you have the same feeling as me, if you also like Sheryl Crow, Jon Bon Jovi, Beatles and Spice Girls, can we be friends?
