　　Shopper：Excuse me, could you show me to the skirts section please?
　　Clerk：Certainly, madam, please come this way.
　　Shopper：Ah! these are just what I've been looking for. Have you got them in my size? I'm a size 8.
　　Clerk：Just a moment…… I 'm afraid not madam. We appear to be temporarily out of stock.
　　Shopper：Oh, how disappointing! When will you next have some in?
　　Clerk：We should be getting a delivery at the beginning of next week.
　　顾客：请问可不可以告诉我女裙在哪里？
　　店员：当然可以，小姐。请走这边。
　　顾客：耶！这正是我想买的那种裙子。有我的尺寸吗？我穿八号。
　　店员：请等一下…恐怕没有这尺寸，小姐。我们暂时缺货。
　　顾客：啊，真扫兴！下次进货是什么时候？
　　店员：下星期初，新货应该就会送到了。
　　购买衣物，问店员有没有某尺寸，英文可以说：Do you have this in my size?（有我的尺寸吗？）假如觉得某尺寸太大或太小，则可说：Do you have this in a smaller/bigger (larger) size?（有小一点/大一点的吗？）或I need a smaller/bigger size（我要小一点/大一点的）。‘我要八号’是I am a size 8或I take a size 8。假如公司缺货，你是店员，应告诉顾客：We appear to be temporarily out of stock。Stock是‘存货’，作可数(countable noun)或不可数名词(uncountable noun)都可以，例如：(1) The supermarket had a large stock of canned fish/large stocks of household goods（超级市场有大批罐头鱼/家庭用品存货）。(2) Much of the stock is in the storeroom（存货大部分放在储藏室）。‘缺货’是out of stock，‘有货’则是in stock，例如："Do you have my size in stock?" "I'm afraid we're out of stock of your size right now."（‘有我这个尺寸的存货吗？’‘我们现在恐怕没有你这个尺寸的存货。’）要说一些货品已经售罄，你还可用sell out一词，例如：(1) We are /have sold out of Koo's Nonfat Milk Powder（我们的古氏脱脂奶粉卖光了）。(2) Koo's Nonfat Milk Powder is/has sold out（古氏脱脂奶粉卖光了）。假如你公司根本没有进某种货品，不妨坦白告诉顾客：I'm afraid we don't stock Jin's Milk Powder/I'm sorry we don't carry Jin's Milk Powder（对不起，今氏奶粉我们没有进货）。Stock作动词，是‘备货’，carry则可解作‘有（某些货品）出售’。
