　　Desmond: I've just seen David Beckham.
　　Paul: Come on, you're putting me on.
　　Desmond: No really, he came in and out of the hotel bar about twenty minutes ago.
　　Paul: What's he doing here?
　　Desmond: Someone said he's here for an advertising shoot.
　　保罗：你看来很高兴，为什么？
　　德斯蒙：我刚才看到戴维贝克汉。
　　保罗：啍，你在跟我开玩笑。
　　德斯蒙：不是玩笑，是真是，他大约二十分钟之前在旅馆酒吧间进进出出。
　　保罗：他在这里干什么？ 　　德斯蒙：有人说他在这里拍广告。
　　英文动词片词(phrasal verb)有put somebody on这说法，指哄骗人家，通常是开玩笑性质，英式英文叫have somebody on，习惯用进行时式，例如：Don't believe him. I think he's putting/having you on（不要相信他。我想，他是在戏弄你）。Put-on作名词，就是欺骗人家的恶作剧，例如：The love he professed for Rebecca was just a put-on to tease his wife（他表示喜欢莉贝卡，无非是跟他妻子开玩笑）。
　　和put somebody on意思差不多的，是hoax。这个字可作动词或名词，例如：(1) We hoaxed him into believing that Mary was secretly in love with him（他被我们哄了，以为玛丽在暗恋他）。(2) Let's play a hoax on her and tell her that David Beckham is here（我们不妨捉弄她，说戴维贝克汉就在这里）。Hoax还可用来修饰另一名词，常见的是a hoax (telephone) call，即‘恶作剧电话’，例如：A hoax call had an ambulance rushing to our school（由于一个恶作剧电话，救护车匆匆赶来我们学校）。此外还有bomb hoax，即讹称某处放了炸弹的恶作剧，例如：A bomb hoax forced the closure of the cinema（电*由于有人讹称放了炸弹，被迫关闭）。He's here for an advertising shoot的shoot是指‘摄影’，可和动词do连用，例如：The photographer is doing a fashion shoot for a women's magazine（摄影师正为一本妇女杂志拍摄时装专辑）。(
