Champagne Socialist

　　指一些人尤其是政治家标榜为贫穷的人或工人阶级谋利益，标榜支持社会主义的构想，但在生活中却没有任何实际行动，完全不把这些思想体现在生活当中。

　　Example

　　"Did you hear Mark at the party last night going on about Marx and talking about organizing a strike at the student union? " "Yeah, I know, he's a real champagne socialist, but he probably had a hangover this morning and drove back to London in the car Mummy and Daddy bought him. "

　　“昨晚在聚会上你听到马克谈论马克思了吗？还说要组织学生会罢工呢。”

　　“是的，我听见了。他可真是个'香槟社会主义者'啊。他昨晚喝得烂醉，可能今天早上还没有酒醒,就开着爸妈给他买的车回伦敦去了。”

　　Sandwich Generation

　　指的那些上有老下有小，都需要照顾的一代人。

　　Example

　　As the population gets older and older, the sandwich generation are the ones who'll suffer financially.

　　随着人口不断老龄化，三明治一代（夹心阶层）要面临很多经济上的难题。

　　Gary Boy

　　它的另外一种说法是“boy racer”，多用于英国南部，指的是年龄为十七岁的青少年。他们刚刚拿到驾照，开着他们的福克斯或者雪铁龙环城或者晚上在空旷的超级市场停车场里疯狂飙车

　　"There's a gary boy waiting at the traffic lights next to us and I think he wants to have a race when the lights go green.“

　　“有个'狂飙小子'在红绿灯下等着呢，就在我们旁边。我想灯一变绿他就会和我们飙车。”

　　One –Pint Wonder

　　一些人控制不住想喝酒，但是只喝一品脱酒（很少量）就醉了。所以被人戏称为“one-pint wonder”

　　Example

　　"Look who's running for the toilet already. We've only been in the pub for an hour. "

　　“看，谁已经去洗手间了。我们刚在酒吧里呆了一个小时而已。”

　　"That's Mark, he's a real one-pint wonder. "

　　“是马克。他老想喝酒还一喝就醉。”

　　Beer Compass

　　一种诙谐的说法，指那些喝得醉醺醺还可以自己回家，脱衣服，上床睡觉，第二天早上却全然不记得这些事情的人。仿佛头脑中装着一个“啤酒指南针”似的。

　　I can't believe I made it back to my new flat the other night, I've only just learned the bus route into town when I'm sober. Must have been the beer compass…

　　我真不敢相信，那天晚上（喝醉酒了）我还可以自己回到我的新公寓。我只是在没喝醉的时候看了看乘车路线而已。我的脑子里一定有个“啤酒指南针。
