How I Improve My English Writing

　I began to learn writing [ practise English writing] （1） a year ago. Though I'm very glad to say that I have made some progress， I still have a long way to go. Some penfriends （笔友） and my classmates asked me how I improved my writing. Here I'd like to tell you my story.

　　When I began to learn English writing last term， I made many mistakes in grammar and also with idioms （习语） . I often thought in Chinese and just translated （翻译） what I had in my mind into English. Then I handed in my article to my English teacher ， Mr Sun . [My English teacher， Mr Sun， helped me. ] （2） He pointed out my mistakes and told me that I should try tothink in English， not in Chinese， pay more attention to English grammar and idioms， and use simple sentences as possible as [whenever] （3） I could. I did as he said. When I finished writing， I read it very carefully. As soon as I found out mistakes， I corrected them at once. I have kept on doing this and found that I am making fewer mistakes than before. My teacher says I have improved my writing a lot and he encourages me to continue practising.

　　No pains， no gains. Through nearly a year of practice， my English writing has greatly [ considerably] （ 4 ）improved. I'm very lucky that two of my short English compositions have been carried on the newspapers. I have become even more interested in English writing.

　　I'm an ordinary girl and I'm not very bright. But I know it is very important to keep on practising. Practice makes perfect. So I think three things are important in learning English writing： First， we must be sure of ourselves； second， we should pay attention to English grammar and idioms； third， we must keep on practising and be more careful in writing.

　　书面表达是英语高考中必考的一种题型，要想提高写作能力，必须持之以恒，坚持练笔，本文作者用罗列法介绍了自己的做法，或许对大家有所启示。文章中某些语言上的不足之处点评修改如下：

　　（1）在文章开头写明“练习英文写作”较好。

　　（2）这里 handed in my article写得过于具体，反而使上下文显得不自然。

　　（3）as possible as I can表达欠妥。我们常说：“as +adj.／adv.+ as possible”或将 possible改为“主语 + can”，如：as much as possible／as much as I can.另外，这里 possible是形容词也不能修饰动词use.

　　（4）greatly说得有些过头了，故改之。
