介词near，by，beside，close to，next to 空间思维的具体用法和区别。

之所以by的距离大于beside是因为：

by意思是在附近、可能有一些距离的“旁边”；

而beside是距离很近的,甚至是要紧挨着的“旁边”。

next to和beside两个常用词使用时的语境区别：

A：She sat down next to him on the sofa.

B：She sat down beside him on the sofa.

A：她紧挨着他在沙发上坐下了。(两个人靠在一起，意味着他们关系亲密)

B：她在沙发上坐下了，坐在他的旁边。(两个人没有靠在一起)

而by和beside 表示汉语“在……旁边”的意思时,有时可以互换使用.但似乎beside 比 by用得多.，

如：

The hotel is beside (/by) the river.

那家饭店在河边(靠近物常用beside)。

Come and sit by (/beside) me.

过来,坐在我边上(靠近人多用by)。

而near表示“在……附近”，指的是四周围，方圆多少里范围内，不特指前后左右，如：

There is a theatre near his home.

他家附近有一家剧院。

There is a post office near No.2 Middle School.

第二中学附近有一所邮局。
